Pljeskavica, sarma, kiseli kupus podvarak… You’ve heard all about it and now you want to try it. Honestly, Serbian food can be very similar wherever you go, but if you want to be sure you’ll get the right quality and reasonable prices, follow our Serbian food restaurants list!
The list contains restaurants that are pure tradition and haven’t changed in last 20 years, but there are also ones that always try to do Serbian food with a twist and something new.
Orašac
Orašac is located just opposite to Monument of Vuk. The restaurant is very spacious, with the traditional Serbian look, Serbian historic heroes observing the guests from the pictures, and domestic music quietly coming from the speakers. Interior of Orašac is decorated with authentic Serbian possessions, such as rugs from Pirot or true kafana tables.

This place is all about details. From really special and delicious recipes they found as a mixture of tradition and innovation, to interior, design, story… Prices are their competitive advantage too. Make sure you put this place on your list.

Zavičaj
This restaurant is very close to the main bus and railway station, so it can be one of the first restaurants tourists bump into while they’re walking towards their hostels. Food is good, portions are large, prices really affordable. We recommend you to start with a plate of cheese, domestic ham and ajvar.

Mala Fabrika Ukusa
Created with an idea of a mixture between Serbian traditional homemade comfort food and innovative and modern cuisine ways, Mala Fabrika offers genuine pleasure and definitely has to be on your list when visiting Belgrade, especially if you enjoy gastronomic thrills. Kuhinja
A bit far away from the city center, but many have confirmed that it is worth half an hour bus ride. The restaurant doesn’t try to be fancy or modern, and they’re very traditional when it comes to their cute interior. All of their efforts are concentrated on food. Portions are enormous and everything is delicious.

Very elegant restaurant in a beautiful forest on Banjica. This is a place we like to go on special occasions. From the service, the atmosphere, vibe and live music, to the food and best local wines, this place is a local’s favorite.

Located just next to Kalenić market, this is a famous and old-school place where you can often see actors, writers, and elite of Belgrade. It is very vibrant, cool and friendly, but offering traditional meals.

If you ask old people of Belgrade, they’ll tell you that this is a place where “you could eat well since forever”. It is an old restaurant, and old people tend to hang out there, but that is what gives it the true traditional charm!

Proleće
We found a comment on the Internet that says that the atmosphere here is like “a living room 20 years ago”. But isn’t that vintage? ? The food tastes the same. Local meals, great service, and also, unexpectedly, a variety of vegetarian dishes. We can do that too!

Tri Šešira
Last on the list, the true tradition in bohemian part of the city called Skadarlija – the restaurant every tourist loves, and every local admirers. It is always full, with live music in the evening. Very charming as is its garden, and that is why we recommend it in spring and summer.
